My Painting Got Selected for the School Exhibition!

“Anushka, your painting has been selected for the Annual Exhibition!”

I couldn’t believe my ears. Me? My painting?

It all started one rainy afternoon in Art class. Ma’am said, “Draw anything that makes you happy.” I thought and thought. Then I remembered our school farm – the green vegetables, the bright yellow sunflowers, the happy birds. I decided to draw that.

I used green for the plants, yellow for the sunflowers, blue for the sky, and brown for the soil. I even added small butterflies. It took me two whole periods to finish.

When I showed Ma’am, she smiled so big. “Anushka, this is beautiful! You have captured our school’s soul.”

I didn’t think much about it after that. But last week, Ma’am called me. “Your painting is one of the 20 selected from the whole school for the exhibition. Parents and visitors will see it!”

On exhibition day, I stood near my painting. So many people stopped and looked. One auntie said, “This is so peaceful.” A little kid said, “Didi, you draw so nicely!”

But the best moment was when my mother came. She looked at the painting, then looked at me, and her eyes were wet. “Baby, this is beautiful. I am so proud of you.”

That day I learned: Art is not about being perfect. It’s about painting what you feel inside. 🎨
